Lydia Ann Fly Masters Tournament Oct 3rd

August 23, 2015 General News No Comments

The Lydia Ann Fly Masters Tournament will be held on October 3rd, 2015 in Aransas Pass, TX

The purpose of the LYDIA ANN FLY MASTERS tournament is to bring Fly Fishing anglers from all over the State of Texas, as well as other States, to compete for prizes, share in the enjoyment of fishing the flats, and have a good time; all the while never losing focus of the main reason for being there – to help support a wonderful charitable organization.

CASTING FOR RECOVERY is a national support and educational organization for breast cancer survivors and is the recipient of the proceeds from this event. Please select the hyperlink above to learn more about their cause, and to make additional on-line donations.

Aransas Pass was chosen as the center for the tournament due to its fairly equal distance from Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. It is also close to the heart of the flats that many of us love to fly fish.

The tournament is open to both Boating Anglers and Kayaking Anglers with separate divisions for each. Redfish on the fly and Catch and Release are the objectives, but there are also “Open Species” divisions for both the Boaters and Kayakers just to make things interesting.

For a more complete description and downloadable version of the Tournament Format and Rules please visit the “Rules & Format”. A downloadable Application is also available on the “Application & Info” page. We are striving to make the tournament as attractive as we can to all anglers by having separate divisions for the Boaters and Kayakers.

We are also working with numerous Sponsors to offer quality prizes for the top finishing anglers, as well as Raffle and Silent Auction Items. We encourage everyone that participates in the tournament or visits this site and support these fine and generous Sponsors.

Texas Council Update and Newsletter

August 16, 2015 General News No Comments

Texas IFFF members. Excited to share with you what may be our best newsletter yet. The 2015 summer edition. So many exciting things going on and coming this fall!! A great time to get involved in something, have fun, meet new friends, and learn more about fly fishing. Pay attention to all of the activities throughout the state.    Many of us are in Bend, Oregon for the IFFF National Fair. Great show so far and Texas was again well recognized at the awards banquet. Congrats to all that were recognized. Special recognition also goes out to Dutch Baughman, as he was introduced as one of the new Board of Directors member. Dutch replaced David Lemke who served for many years. Congrats to you both. Dutch will bring a strong passion for the IFFF and will be very active in his role.    Exciting news to come from TP&WD as the river access program is coming along nicely. Many new sites will be available for anglers to enjoy on our favorite rivers!! Also clubs will be receiving new conservation litter bags to help keep our rivers clean!!    I also cannot ever stop thanking the volunteers that make this council what it is. All have been doing an amazing job, and have served for many years. Some will be moving on this year and will be surely missed. But with that comes the opportunity for new members to serve and join a fun group that are primed to make a difference. We would love to see some new volunteers to keep us moving on. If you would like to join us in any role, please let us know by emailing us at:    Thank you and enjoy your rest of summer. Look forward to some awesome fishing this fall!!

Welcome to the Texas Council!! The Texas Council was formed this fall, as there was a strong desire to unify our state. Texas was divided with the Northern clubs belonging to the Southern Council and the rest of the state belonging to the Gulf Coast Council. A unified state will be beneficial in so many ways. On November the 26th, the Federation of Fly Fishers approved the formation of the Texas Council. The new Council has been off to an excellent start, with the help of so many wonderful, and talented volunteers. Without them, this dream would have never came true.

We hope you find this website to be of great value, and easy to use. Please provide any comments, suggestions, or activities you wish the council to partake in. We would greatly appreciate your support.
