Rio Grande Valley Fly Tiers Charter Club News!!

October 23, 2013 General News No Comments

Congratulations to the Rio Grande Fly Tiers on being accepted into the International Federation of Fly Fishers as a Charter Club.  Your application was reviewed and approved.  All your members are now IFFF members.  Our next step will be to assign a club number and enter your club in our website.  For this process we ask that your club establish a separate club e-mail address, if you haven’t already done so.  This can be a free g-mail or yahoo account and will be the permanent e-mail for the club regardless who the officers are.  So please advise what address we should you for the website account and display to the public.

You will get an official letter from us in the near future which will include your insurance certificate and all other pertinent information.  Congratulations and we look forward to a long and rewarding relationship.

Texas Holdover Tournament / New Braunfels, Tx

October 22, 2013 General News No Comments

News and updates from New Braunfels, Texas:

The first stocking of trout for the 2013/2014 season is going to be earlier than normal. Rumor has it, there are some proposed changes to the fishing regulations on the Guadalupe tailrace. We will keep you informed as this develops. It looks to be another great fishing season. Send us an email if you have any dates you would like to reserve for a trip.

I’d like to take this opportunity to share some updates about some Action Angler events:

1. We have scheduled the Learn to Fly Fish event for December 7, 2013. The cost is $40 per angler and goes to the TXPWD stocking program to stock trout on the Guadalupe River.

2. Semi-Guided Devils River trips are available through Action Angler in March and April for groups of 6 to 7. Individuals can be placed with partial groups. Please inquire by email at info@actionangler.net for more details.

3. The 3rd annual Texas Holdover Tournament is scheduled for November 2, 2013. The New Braunfels Fly Fishers are organizing this event.

4. We are taking deposits for 3 day float trips on the Gunnison River with Black Canyon Anglers. The start date is June 14. This date gives us the best chance for enjoying the salmon fly hatch. Please contact us if there is another date that better fits your schedule. We will do our best to pull some strings to make it happen.

5. Dave Smith will be helping around the shop. He brings a solid fly fishing background from working in various fly shops and lodges from Maryland to Colorado. Please stop by and say hey to Dave.

The weather and temperatures are great for getting outside. Please let us know if you are looking to get out and catch some fish, or just brush up on your fly fishing skills. Trout season is upon us, and bass season is here. As always, our on-line store is available for any of your gear needs. Our website will be receiving some revisions. Please don’t hesitate to report any issues you may have. We appreciate your continued support of Action Angler and hope to see you on the river soon. Please stay tuned to http://actionangler.net/Home.aspx for updated events and website additions.

Sincerely,

Chris Jackson, Owner/Lead Guide

WELCOME

Welcome to the Texas Council!! The Texas Council was formed this fall, as there was a strong desire to unify our state. Texas was divided with the Northern clubs belonging to the Southern Council and the rest of the state belonging to the Gulf Coast Council. A unified state will be beneficial in so many ways. On November the 26th, the Federation of Fly Fishers approved the formation of the Texas Council. The new Council has been off to an excellent start, with the help of so many wonderful, and talented volunteers. Without them, this dream would have never came true.

We hope you find this website to be of great value, and easy to use. Please provide any comments, suggestions, or activities you wish the council to partake in. We would greatly appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Texas Council
