SW Nature Preserve Clean Up Day

June 9, 2013 General News No Comments

Today the Fort Worth Fly Fishers had a very successful clean up day. Their partnership with Arlington Parks and Recreation continues to grow. Really getting excited as ths new park is nearing completion. Still planning our helping with the opening ceremonies in early fall. The group patrolled the entire park, and really focused on the roadside, where we definitely made a difference!!!

Thank you Bill Stewart for heading up the project. Also helping out with the project was Mike McCorkhill. Volunteers included Greg, James, Steve, Mark, Chip, Russell, Pat, Harold, and Donnie.

Shannon Drawe at FWFFers!!

June 6, 2013 General News No Comments

Was great to have Shannon Drawe at the FWFFers meeting Tuesday night. Shannon shared with us about catching carp on the flats in the summertime!!! What a great way to fish. Shannon is the Regional Dirtector of the North Region in the Texas Council, and will be coming to your club in North Texas soon. Very informative presentation. If you wish to have Shannon speak at your club, do so. You can access a list of speakers who will do just that on this website. Simply click on the speakers link, look up a speaker and contact them. It is the clubs repsonsibility to discuss the terms and timelines of the presentation.

Here is Shannon showing off not just another pretty face, but one of a golden carp beauty!!

This will be a TPWD Angler Ed Instructor class with a twist. After we complete the required curriculum for the Basic Angler Ed Instructor Class we will move on to the Basic /Intermediate Fly Fishing curriculum as well.

At the workshop you will receive an Angler Education Instructor Guidebook, Instructor Certificate, and Pin. Once TPWD receives the Criminal Background Check approval they will send you an email to confirm your eligibility as an official Angler Education Volunteer Instructor and your Angler education Instructor wallet card. WELCOME

Welcome to the Texas Council!! The Texas Council was formed this fall, as there was a strong desire to unify our state. Texas was divided with the Northern clubs belonging to the Southern Council and the rest of the state belonging to the Gulf Coast Council. A unified state will be beneficial in so many ways. On November the 26th, the Federation of Fly Fishers approved the formation of the Texas Council. The new Council has been off to an excellent start, with the help of so many wonderful, and talented volunteers. Without them, this dream would have never came true.

We hope you find this website to be of great value, and easy to use. Please provide any comments, suggestions, or activities you wish the council to partake in. We would greatly appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Texas Council
