Fort Worth Fundraiser Very Successful April 30 – Plus May Events

Once again, we had a very successful fund raising auction on April 30, in University Christian Church at TCU. Thanks to the splendid, hard working effort of Eric James, our Chairman, along with a multitude of volunteers from the club, we collected a 19% increase in funds over last year. This will be used to run the club, educate others and support charities such as Reel Recovery, Casting for Recovery and Project Healing Waters. For the first time we ran 10 30-second ads on WBAP Radio. There were around 100 folks in attendance from all over the Metroplex and we should gain some new members.

Our May meeting will be Tuesday the 7th along the Trinity River across from Botanic Gardens, beginning at 4:30 PM. Enter the park at the first entrance north of I-30. Our Certified Casting Instructors will be on hand to help you improve your technique or start from scratch. We have many new members who will benefit from learning the basics of placing food in front of the fish

The May outing will be at Bill Ward’s Ranch on May 18 near Mexia (for you Yankees, that’s pronounced Meh HAY ah). Look for Mike Mendez’s write-up. This is a great place to meet new and old friends in a fun environment around the lake. During the same weekend, the Caddo Lake conclave will be put on by the East Texas Fly Fishers at Caddo Lake State Park. Contact Russell Husted for details.

On May 11,6:00AM- 2:00PM The 4th Annual World Championship “Bass on the  Fly” Fly Fishing Tournament is at Lake Fork, Texas, USA at Lake Fork MarinaRegistration Forms/Info: Bass on the Fly Fishing Tournament Details

WELCOME

Welcome to the Texas Council!! The Texas Council was formed this fall, as there was a strong desire to unify our state. Texas was divided with the Northern clubs belonging to the Southern Council and the rest of the state belonging to the Gulf Coast Council. A unified state will be beneficial in so many ways. On November the 26th, the Federation of Fly Fishers approved the formation of the Texas Council. The new Council has been off to an excellent start, with the help of so many wonderful, and talented volunteers. Without them, this dream would have never came true.

We hope you find this website to be of great value, and easy to use. Please provide any comments, suggestions, or activities you wish the council to partake in. We would greatly appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Texas Council
